What's not to love about cartoons? From Calvin & Hobbes, to the Peanuts, to superhero comics of Superman and Spider-man, back to Looney Tunes. Cartoons have been my life since I was a baby. Until fourth grade, I wanted to be an inventor like Doc Brown, but I had no sense of mechanics or math or anything one would need to actual invent anything. But I drew everything. It was only a matter of time before I fully embraced my drawing. Since then I've created characters like Tick, cartoon T.C. & Jason, and countless others.

Shark Night 3D and the Bit Strips Problem

Okay, I can see the appeal of Bit Strips, but they sort of bum me out. A few years back, I had a drawing technique where I would do portraits using only diagonal lines. Darker areas and more space between lines. A light touch here a lot of pressure there. I could manage to pull off some great little pieces that I even sold for a time. You can check a lot of these vert-art pieces in the artwork section here on the sight. It was a fun style, until photoshop added a filter that did exactly that technique at the click of a button. Then, people would just assume I used that effect when I posted artwork in that style. It was really annoying. Now, Bit Strips has come and made the act of drawing a comic as simple as clicking a few buttons. This strip alone took a near total of 7 hours to draw in pencil, ink, scan, and color in photoshop. As I sat here getting a sore back from hunching over my computer and tediously coloring Ben and Mike, I jokingly said, "There's got to be a better way!" and my girlfriend Candace chuckled and replied, "There is. It's this new thing called Bit Strips." Ha! and >sigh< I suppose it isn't an epidemic, but I can still feel a little bummed out when someone's one-minute comic gets a bunch of likes and shares, and some of my more favorite tcomics get ignored. Is that ego talking? Maybe.
Anyway, it is very satisfying to have a new comic to share. I don't have the time I need to do these as often as I'd like, so it's nice to be able to come back. Hope you all enjoy (especially the new and sleeker design on cartoon Ben).

  1. I tried it once, to see what the interface was like. I hate it.
